New Delhi, May 31, 2023 – SRM University-AP has been recognized for its outstanding research environment as it received the prestigious Excellence in Enabling Research Environment (Science) award at the 16th International Education Leadership & Skill Development Summit. The ceremony took place at a hotel in New Delhi and was organized by ASSOCHAM – National Council on Education.
The esteemed award was presented to SRM University-AP’s notable representatives, including Prof. Ranjit Thapa, the dean of the School of Engineering and Sciences, Dr Mahesh Kumar Ravva, the assistant dean for research, and Pankaj Belwariar, the director for communications. They received the award from Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, the chairman of ASSOCHAM, and Prof. Rajita Kulkarni, the co-chairperson.
Expressing his pride and appreciation for the recognition, Prof. Manoj K. Arora, the vice-chancellor of SRM University-AP, highlighted the institution’s unwavering commitment to research and innovation. He emphasized that such acknowledgments serve as significant motivation for the numerous groundbreaking discoveries that can occur at the intersection of science and research. Prof. Arora added, “We take immense pride in engaging in a wide range of research activities, including fundamental and pure research, interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research, applied and translational research, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Prof. Ranjit Thapa further elaborated on the university’s remarkable research ecosystem, which has been instrumental in fostering a culture of scientific inquiry. SRM University-AP boasts a robust research infrastructure, state-of-the-art laboratories, and multiple Research Centres of Excellence. With a total outlay of RS 28.11 crore, the university is currently undertaking 72 sponsored research and industrial consultancy projects. Additionally, the institution has achieved remarkable success in intellectual property, with 128 published patents, out of which 5 have been granted. The research environment at SRM University-AP is fortified by its Eight Interdisciplinary Research Centres of Excellence.
