Battleground Mobile India, an online gaming app owned by South Korean company Krafton, will resume operations in India for a three-month trial period. The government has lifted the ban on the app after it complied with server location and data security concerns. Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, announced the trial approval on Twitter, stating that issues related to user harm and addiction will be closely monitored before making a final decision.
Krafton, Inc India CEO Sean Hyunil Sohn expressed gratitude to Indian authorities for allowing the app’s return and thanked the Indian gaming community for their support and patience. The game was initially banned following a demand from the NGO PRAHAR, alleging that the banned PUBG game was reintroduced by Tencent’s front company, Krafton. Battleground Mobile India had over 100 million users at the time of the ban.
