Battlegrounds Mobile India Set to Return to India After Temporary Ban Lifted, with New Restrictions and Compliance Measures

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is set to return to India after being banned in July 2022. According to News18, the game is expected to receive a temporary clearance from the Indian government for a period of 90 days, although it will still be closely monitored.

The ban on BGMI was imposed due to security concerns, as the game was found to be connecting to Chinese servers and was associated with criminal activities in the country. A high-ranking official from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) confirmed the conditional approval given by the Ministry of Home Affairs to unblock BGMI for further analysis and evaluation. An official order to unblock the app from e-stores will be issued shortly.

The reintroduced game is expected to undergo several changes to comply with Indian laws. Players may face restrictions on the number of hours they can play, and the game will no longer feature blood. The report suggests that developers may alter the color of blood in the game.

Earlier this year, Krafton Inc., the company behind BGMI, launched another game in India called Road to Valor: Empires. This online game, available for download from Google Play Store and Apple App Store, includes India-specific features such as custom room creation to watch and play games with friends and a Hindi user interface, providing an enhanced gaming experience for Indian players. Support for other local languages will also be introduced. The game offers a starter pack with unique rewards, starting at ₹29.
